Acupuncturist That Takes Cigna Insurance

For many people, acupuncture is the only treatment they’ve found that works for their ailments. While insurance coverage of acupuncture has been slow to develop, many companies like Cigna offer full or partial coverage for acupuncture treatments. However, just because your insurance company “covers acupuncture” does not necessarily mean that they will pay for your acupuncture treatment. To truly understand your insurance coverage, you must ask the right questions. Then, you must find an acupuncturist that takes Cigna.

Acupuncturist That Takes Cigna Health Insurance -- Silverlake Acupuncture

Does Silverlake Acupuncture accept Cigna health insurance?

The answer is YES, we do! Silverlake Acupuncture is an acupuncturist who takes Cigna health insurance, one of very few in the Los Angeles area. We love our patients with insurance and will do whatever we can to work with you and your insurance company to get you the treatment you need to improve your health.

We are in-network with Cigna’s PPO plans and their hybrid Cigna+Oscar products. We are also in-network for some of Cigna’s HMO offerings. Here’s where things become confusing both for us and our patients. If your Cigna HMO plan belongs to an Independent Physicians Association (IPA), we are out-of-network because we do not currently belong to any IPAs.

Does Silverlake Acupuncture Take Other Health Insurance?

We are in-network and have been accepting Oscar Health Insurance for many years, and even though Oscar has made some changes to their coverages, we remain one of the most popular Acupuncturists who take Oscar Insurance in Los Angeles.

We are also in-network with select Blue Shield of California plans so long as they are not managed by American Specialty Health (ASH). ASH is an organization that provides management services for health insurance companies, alleviating insurance companies of the paperwork burden involved with processing, approving, and paying claims. Since we do not belong to ASH, we are out-of-network for all plans managed by them.

Unfortunately, we are also out of network with Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, and United Healthcare. If you have out-of-network benefits available with these companies, we can submit billing for out-of-network benefits except for ASH-managed plans.

How Can You Tell if Your Plan is Part of an ASH or IPA Group?

The best way to tell if your health insurance is part of an ASH or IPA group is by checking your insurance card. Look for the ASH or IPA designation somewhere on your card, typically on the back. We’re out-of-network if there’s any reference to an IPA or ASH.

What Acupuncture Treatments Does Your Insurance Plan Cover?

Saying “health insurance is confusing” is putting it mildly. Sure, your policy may cover acupuncture, but what does it cover? How many annual visits will they allow? What types of treatments and modalities are covered? What kind of co-pay or deductibles apply? If you have these or any questions, please give us a call.

Silverlake Acupuncture can help, but ultimately, you’re better positioned to get these answers than we are. Calling us and providing us with your group number won’t enable us to tell you with certainty that our acupuncture services are covered.
